Cycle Team Re-Visit Marbury Country Park

Members of the Cycle Team attended the area of Neumann Flashes and Marbury Country Park, near Northwich this evening. This area has been previously used by the search team and dog team as a venue for training recently and this was also the scene of a previous call out for a male who was reported missing.

The route was organised by one of our own members, Caroline Jacks, whose local knowledge has been gained from living in the area. This provided the team with the opportunity to gain and improve their knowledge of the area, in the event of further call-outs within the area of which they trained.

The route was for the main, on off road cycle tracks of a more taxing nature giving members the experience of steeper inclines and declines than have been done before, helping to develop riders skills and increasing their fitness levels.

A publication from Cheshire County Council on the 30th March 2006, described the regeneration in the area as; "Ashton’s and Neumann’s Flashes-scene of dereliction from the salt mining and chemical industry. But nature is fighting back, with a helping hand from a dedicated Land Regeneration Team at Cheshire County Council and funding from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), the former eye sore has been transformed into a valuable community asset and nature conservation site."
