Numerous Team Members braved what was forecasted ‘heavy rain and high winds’ today to take part in Cheshire Lowland Search & Rescue Teams’ annual Water Safety training at Lumb Brook Valley , Appleton , Warrington. The day began with a demonstration by Lee Lappin, Technical Rescue Lead, on the usage of Personal Floatation Devices (PFD’s) and water rescue throw lines. ADD PHOTO HERE All Team Members were asked to perform a search of the local stream and the associated grounds, just incase they weren’t cold enough – another search was undertaken with no verbal communications! Some Team Members managed to remember sign-language skills from ‘Deafness Awareness Training’ in 2006, but it became more than evident that others were making up a whole new set of signs!!! The weather did hold off and the day became a very enjoyable training day. Our thanks yet again must go to Tim over at the Woodland Trust for all his continued help and support not only today but throughout the last 18 months. He has provided many many Team Members the opportunity to train in such a lovely surroundings, including the streams and steep slopes for the ‘rope rescue training’.
