‘ Cheshire Police & Cheshire LSAR Work In Unison for Future Development’ On Sunday the 6th and 27th Cheshire Police and Cheshire Lowland Search & Rescue Team joined together to provide future resources which in time will benefit the people of Cheshire. PCSO Tom Baker kindly offered Team Members the opportunity to develop ‘Bike Safety’ training. The Bike Team was a new concept here in Cheshire , but the area’s in which we are often asked to search are along paths, tracks and country lanes. The Bike Team which currently consists of 12 Team Member’s are able to cover the stated terrain rapidly upon arrival and can save valuable time. When someone is reported missing, we are given an area in which to search, known as a ‘sector’. The Bike Team will be able to circulate the sector and therefore cordon off area’s in which are a priority for a ‘foot team’ to search. Cheshire also has numerous canals and towpaths, disused railways lines which are now converted to footways, linear parks and of course our old favourite, Delamere Forest. Due to this wide varying terrain, the use of a Bike Team, in the said above areas is a great advantage in covering the areas at a greater speed than on foot. Team Members who qualified with PCSO Tom Baker over the last 2 weeks are:
None of this would have been possible without PCSO Tom Baker, Chief Supt Gary Finchett, both from Cheshire Police and also Chris Palin, Cheshire LSART. Chris has spent many hours organising the Bike training amongst Team Members and alongside PCSO Tom Baker. Many many thanks to all who made this possible and also to the Team Members who gave up their time to attend the training.
