‘Risk Assessment Scenario Training’

Tonight Team Members had the opportunity to assess two separate incident scenario’s, with Health & Safety being their only priority.

Team Members were faced with a scenario of an ‘Aircraft Incident’.

The aircraft had lost control above a dense area of Delamere Forest and had made an emergency landing within meters of a nearby lake. Team Members had to prioritise themselves, other Team Members and the public, hazards, bio-hazards, equipment, which also included mental and physical preparation – ‘as a Team Member, are they mentally and physically prepared for what they may have to deal with?’

Other Team Members were faced with a ‘Crag Rescue’. The casualty was located at the base of the crag with injuries consistant with a fall from a height. An example of factors included:

  • Universal precaution’s (for dealing with bodily fluids)
  • Access and egress
  • Safety of all including, Members, Public, Staff, Other Personnel
  • Equipment
  • Individual Team Member preparedness
  • Rope access equipment
  • Additional safety equipment plus many more.
