‘Second Training Session For Bike Team’.

Members of Cheshire Lowland Search & Rescue Bike Team met at Warrington Rowing Club to participate in their first training night tonight.

A number of Team Members participated on a ‘Cycle Course’ with Cheshire Police last month and have since developed this training to produce a search resource. This additional resource can only be seen as an asset to the Team whilst on Search Incidents throughout Warrington, Cheshire and the surrounding areas.

Team Members experienced some of the types of terrain and environments in which they may encounter during search incidents. The minority of the training took place on a handful of major and minor roads within housing estate areas and built-up areas; however the majority of the training was off road along cycle ways within ‘parklands’ and ‘linear parks’. The Linear Parks contained disused canals, dirt tracks and the harsh, unforgiving terrain of a towpath which is now a dried up canal.

Woolston Grange Business Estate was also used as a training area tonight. The business estate is host to numerous Warrington based warehouses and storage area’s.

The promotion of the Team whilst members have been training has been a huge ‘unforeseen’ success.
