‘LS Dogs AGM Spells Success for Dog Team’

Joanne McClure, Chairman, and Joanne Pritchard, Dog Team Representative, travelled to Berkshire for LS dogs AGM.

On Saturday lunchtime, both Joanne’s made the journey to Berkshire to meet up with Chairman of Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs Team, Daryl. The last time the two Joanne’s met Daryl was on a mock assessment day at Chobham Common, Chobham, which provided an opportunity to meet fellow members of Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs and ask any questions they may have.

The two Joanne’s then travelled to Bordon, Berkshire to meet up with their Training Officer, Pete. Pete has provided them both with invaluable knowledge, experience and suggestions both in Berkshire and also in Cheshire itself.

Sunday they attended LS Dogs AGM where our application was to be discussed and voted on.

I am very pleased to be able to report Cheshire LSART are officially ‘Probationary’ members of Lowland Search Dogs.

“I have managed many searches where Search Dogs have been used, but my faith in them has never been fantastic. However in February I received an invite to join a forum to discuss search & rescue dogs. I joined the forum, with some uncertainty, however I was eager to improve my knowledge in the use of search dogs within missing people searches. After many weeks I approached the idea of developing a Dog Team within the Cheshire & Merseyside area with Joanne Pritchard, and we decided to place an application with LS Dogs to cover both areas. Our success has been through a lot of hard work both on and off the field. I would advise any Chairman or Search Managers within ALSAR or within the Search & Rescue community to look into the feasibility of the usage of search dogs as an additional search resource – it takes time and dedication but it is certainly worth investigating.” J.McClure, CLSART Chairman
