‘Navigation Training at Lumb Brook Valley ’

Team Members had the opportunity today to improve Navigation Skills on the varying terrain of Lumb Brook Valley, Appleton. The weather was on our side today and luckily wasn’t a repeat of the last Navigation training at Frodsham Marshes.

The session was run by Lee Lappin, Training Officer, and skills improved included;

- Basic map reading
- 6 & 8 figure grid references
- Walking on a bearing
- Pacing
- How to take back bearings
- Understanding contours
- Reading the landscape by the surrounding vegetation

Team Members had this opportunity to make mistakes and to correct themselves by methods of trial and error, but overall an enjoyable day for all those who took part.
