Call-out brings training to a sudden halt - 28 April 2009
This evening whilst team members were undertaking stretcher handling training at Sankey Valley Park we received a call for assistance from Cheshire Police.
The team were deployed to Hale Village, near Widnes, to recover a body on steep ground. The team have been training for a number of years now in low-angle rescue and the skills and expertise we re put to the test, in order to perform this rescue.
In a strange turn of events, the training this evening was regarding stretcher handling whilst on an embankment.
A further 3 team members were deployed from a Management meeting this evening to assist with the rescue. A total number of 15 members were involved.
Thanks go to Cheshire Police for the help and assistance throughout the evening. Our condolences extend to the family and friends of the gentleman concerned involved in this terrible tragedy.
