Steep access training - 18 May
This evening members met at The Forest Hills Hotel for access to Frodsham Hill for 'steep access' training.
This evening followed a theory session at St John Ambulance HQ, Warrington some eight weeks ago.
The members were shown how to establish and secure a safe anchor system including hazard awareness. Which then led on to how make a full body harness using climbing slings which are carried in the steep ground security bags which are within each team bag that goes out with each search party.
The evening aims and objectives were how to get to a casualty in a situation where there is steep ground. It was all about using simple techiniques and doing them well, instead of over complicating them with technical equipment.
The evening was enjoyable and team work was paramount this evening. We look forward to more steep access training in the near future.
Our thanks go to Dave Wooliscroft and Jeff Richardson for providing the
training. Also our thanks are extended to visitors, staff and residents
of the Forest Hills Hotel, for allowing us to take over a large area for
parking and also a large area on Frodsham Hill.
