Search dramas after a 999 call, Chelford - 19 May
At 1806hrs, we were called by Cheshire Police to assist in the search for a missing female with multiple personality disorders.
The search commenced with a silver command being formed with all the responding agencies formulating a search strategy. We were able to narrow down search areas with a mobile phone ping and details of what the lady had given during a 999 call earlier on. Unfortunately her mobile battery had failed and we were unable to re-establish further contact. With the help of her family and friends we were able to further narrow down the search area which only left fields and farmland to search.
Teams were deployed rapidly as we knew this missing lady had an ankle injury and were sent to high priority areas around the mobile mast. Areas searched were relatively flat fields and were made easier by local farmers assistance.
Furthermore, we had colleagues and friends on stand-by for morning from Staffordshire Search and Rescue Team and also Southport Off-Shore Rescue Trust.
Just after 11.30pm we received news of a possible sighting and when investigated, it was indeed the missing female with minor injuries. She was transferred to a local A&E department via ambulance.
Many thanks to everyone at Broken Cross Club for their very kind hospitality and also to Southport for sending 5 members to support the search.
Our thoughts are now with the family and friends of the missing lady, we wish her a speedy recovery and without their help the search may have continued into tomorrow. Thank you.
