Late Night Standby to support Mountain Rescue - 20 January

This evening at 11.35pm, our call out manager Dave McClure , placed Cheshire Search and Rescue on standby for an early Saturday morning callout to assist North East Wales Mountain Rescue Team in a search for a missing male last seen in the Connah’s Quay area of North Wales.

Iain Ashcroft NEWSAR’s Team Leader contacted Cheshire SAR to request assistance due to new intelligence and further sightings been received by North Wales Police and the potential for new search areas to be tasked early on Saturday morning.

Iain went on to explain that NEWSAR were also undertaking their mountian rescue casualty care course and if we could provide support, it would allow them to continue this very challenging and hugely important life saving course. Even at this very late hour 20 team members responded and were ready for the early morning call.

At 9.15am on Saturday Cheshire SAR were stood down by Iain following a police meeting with limited new areas been tasked which could be managed by NEWSAR members who have already qualified in casualty care.

As always we are more than happy and our proud to be support our special friends in mountain rescue and wish all those on the casualty care course good luck. We also continue our thoughts and prayers for the missing gentleman and his family.
