On-air with Red Shift Radio - 24 January

Team Leader, Jo McClure and Deputy Team Leader, Dave McClure travelled to the home of Red Shift Radio in Crewe to talk on-air about the work of Cheshire Search & Rescue and also about the Association of Lowland Search & Rescue (ALSAR).

The family duo met with Mumtaz, with Bizzy Lizzy & Dr Gav, listening in at home, and yet again received a lovely and warm welcome.

Our history with Red Shift Radio goes back quite sometime now when we were at The Barony in Nantwich, which was also the pre-launch day of popular internet based radio station. With the powers of social media, we stayed in touch via Twitter initially and then Facebook in the months following and to this day, we are invited to spend sometime with them on-air.

"It was quite funny looking back at our first guest appearance, I went with Team Member & Dog Handler Joanne Pritchard and also my 4 year old daughter. Throughout the show my daughter was sat in amazement at the studio and was so good, but with 15 minutes to go whilst the mics were on, all we heard is, "Mum, I need the toilet". After getting over the sudden run to the toilet, the rest of the show flew and I didn't want it to end".

Mumtaz chatted to Dave and I about recent searches and how we handle the saddening news when a missing person is located. There's simply no right or wrong answer but to allow individuals to handle the news in their own way and to ensure that they are allowed to opportunity to talk when they are ready. There's lots of support mechanisms in place and Mumtaz dedicated a song for Haydn Evans and Magdalena Whittaker.

We had a lovely hour with Red Shift Radio yet again and would like to thank everyone at Red Shift and also all the listeners.
