Medical cover for the Sandstone Trail race - 12 May
As the world was sound asleep this morning, team members were preparing vehicles to head up to the sandstone trail to provide medical rescue cover for the Frodsham Striders race.
The race was the length of the Sandstone Trail with the first runner crossing the line in just over 4hrs!
The team were responsible for looking after the welfare and medical cover for each runner.
With the given circumstances of John Lawton's disappearance in Greece and 15 members out there looking for him, nothing more was in our minds that this was also one of the Striders Running Clubs and the last thing we wanted was for someone to go missing. Were very happy to report that everyone finished safe and well despite a few injuries we'd treated along the way.
The team had dealt with a collapse as well on the day who was time critical but the team had dealt with it very professionally and in such a lovely caring manner.
We continue to thank Dr Mark Forest, Medical Director for ourselves, ATACC and also Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service for allowing us to undertake BTACC training and his continuing support.
It was a very long day for the team and at 10pm the vehicles had just been returned back to base.
