Communications and navigation

All members of the team are trained on how to use the team radios so the different teams can keep in contact with each other and the search control unit.

On a live search it is very important that team members know their exact location at any point in time so that, if required, they can report any incidents/evidence back to the control unit and provide a grid reference of where that incident/evidence was. To enable this all members are trained in map reading and using a compass.
